Easter

Easter candles are an essential part of spring holidays, bringing not only light but also a pleasant fragrance and aesthetic experience into the home. In our range, you will find a wide variety of shapes, colors, and scents to satisfy even the most discerning customers. Whether you are looking for a decoration for the festive table, a gift for loved ones, or a way to brighten up spring evenings, Easter candles are the right choice. When selecting a specific piece, consider whether it will serve as a central decorative element or just a subtle complement to other decorations. For example, a large bunny-shaped candle with a diameter of 8 cm and a height of 15 cm is suitable for a place of honor on the table, while small egg-shaped candles with a diameter of 4 cm can be placed throughout the apartment.

How to Choose the Ideal Easter Candle

When choosing an Easter candle, it is important to consider several factors that will affect how the candle looks and feels in your interior. First, focus on the shape and design – candles in the shape of bunnies, eggs, or chocolate figures are popular especially for their playful and festive appearance. If you prefer a minimalist style, opt for simpler shapes like cylinders or cubes with spring motifs, such as prints of flowers or birds. Color is also important – pastel shades of pink, blue, and yellow evoke spring, while white and green feel fresh and clean. For candles with multiple colors, check that the colors are stable and will not mix while burning.

Fragrances and Their Impact on Atmosphere

The fragrance of a candle can significantly influence the mood in a room. For the Easter season, fresh and floral scents are typical, such as grapefruit, pomelo, plum rhubarb, lime with basil and mandarin, or cherry with almonds. These aromas evoke spring and awaken pleasant feelings. When choosing a fragrance, consider whether you want to use the candle as decoration or plan to light it – some scents are more intense and suitable for larger spaces, such as a living room over 30 m². For smaller rooms like a bedroom, we recommend gentler scents, such as vanilla or lavender, which will not be too dominant. If you are giving the candle as a gift, choose a universal scent like white chocolate or coconut, which will please most people.

Quality and Materials of Easter Candles

Quality Easter candles are made from premium materials that ensure even burning and a long lifespan. The most commonly used materials are paraffin, soy wax, or beeswax. Soy wax is popular for its eco-friendliness and clean burning – it burns approximately 30% longer than paraffin at the same weight. Beeswax offers a natural honey scent and is ideal for allergy sufferers, as it does not release harmful substances when burning. Paraffin candles are more affordable and come in a wide range of colors and shapes, but they may produce more soot when burning. The wick is also important – a cotton wick without lead ensures smoke-free and even burning. For candles with a diameter over 7 cm, we recommend a multi-wick design, which ensures even wax melting and prevents tunneling.

Safety and Maintenance

When using candles, always follow basic safety rules. Place the candle on a non-flammable surface, such as a ceramic plate or glass coaster, out of reach of children and pets. Before lighting, trim the wick to approximately 5 mm to prevent a large flame and smoke. After extinguishing, let the wax harden before moving – liquid wax can cause burns. Regularly trimming the wick and removing soot will extend the candle's lifespan and maintain its clean appearance. If dust forms on the candle's surface, gently clean it with a dry cloth. Store candles in a dry place at room temperature, ideally in their original packaging, to preserve their fragrance.

Tips and Inspiration for Easter Arrangements

Easter candles can be creatively incorporated into festive decorations. Combine them with fresh flowers like tulips or daffodils, green twigs, colorful eggs, or natural materials such as pinecones and moss. Create a central decorative element for the dining table – place a candle on a wooden tray surrounded by moss and small eggs. For a romantic touch, use candles in glass containers that enhance their color and fragrance. Place smaller candles on shelves, windowsills, or dressers – for example, an egg-shaped candle on a kitchen windowsill adds a spring atmosphere to the room. Remember that candles can also be a practical gift – packaged in a box with a spring motif, they will delight any lover of scents and decorations. For children, choose animal-shaped candles that also serve as toys – for example, a chick-shaped candle with a diameter of 5 cm.

How to choose

When choosing an Easter candle, focus on its shape, fragrance, and material to find the ideal piece for your needs. For a quick comparison, we have prepared an overview of the most common types of candles by use:

Type of Use Material Target Audience
Table decoration (centerpiece) Soy wax with cotton wick Families with children, lovers of natural materials
Gift for loved ones (universal) Paraffin with multi-wick design Friends, colleagues, relatives
Relaxation and fragrance (for the living room) Beeswax with honey scent Individuals, couples seeking peace
Children's room (safe decoration) Soy wax (safe, lead-free) Children, young families
Spring outdoor decoration (terrace) Paraffin with UV protection Homeowners, cottage owners

Before purchasing, check these important aspects:

  • Candle size – choose according to where it will be placed (small ones with a diameter of 3-5 cm for a shelf, larger ones with a diameter of 8-12 cm for a table).
  • Fragrance compatibility with the environment – fresh scents (grapefruit, lime) are suitable for the kitchen, floral scents (lavender, rose) for the living room, sweet scents (vanilla, chocolate) for the bedroom.
  • Wick type – prefer a cotton wick without lead for clean burning and minimal soot.
  • Maintenance – regularly trim the wick to 5 mm before each lighting and clean the candle surface from dust with a dry cloth.
  • Safety – never leave a candle burning unattended, place it on a non-flammable surface and away from flammable materials.

Important safety notice for candles in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the proper and safe use of candles — including container candles, freestanding candles, scented candles, seasonal candles, and gift sets with candles. Please read these instructions carefully before first use and keep them for the entire product lifetime.

Basic safety and handling principles

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets: A candle is a source of open flame and hot wax. Never place it where children or pets have access. There is a risk of fire, burns, and swallowing small parts (e.g., decorative elements).
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended: Always extinguish the candle before leaving the room or going to sleep. Most candle-related fires occur when they are left unattended.
  • Placement: Place the candle on a flat, stable, and non-flammable surface. Maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm from curtains, fabrics, books, paper, and other flammable materials. Do not place the candle at the edge where it could fall.
  • Distance between candles: When using multiple candles simultaneously, maintain a distance of at least 10 cm between them to avoid mutual overheating and uncontrolled burning.

Proper and safe use

  • Trimming the wick: Trim the wick to a length of 5 – 7 mm before each lighting. A wick that is too long causes excessive flame, smoking, soot, and uneven burning. Use specialized wick scissors or regular scissors for trimming.
  • Maximum burning time: Allow the candle to burn continuously for a maximum of 3 – 4 hours. Then extinguish it, let it cool for at least 2 hours, and trim the wick before relighting.
  • First lighting: When using for the first time, let the candle burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to melt to the edge of the container (usually 1 – 2 hours). This prevents tunneling and uneven burning.
  • Hot wax — burn risk: Melted wax reaches temperatures above 60 °C and can cause painful burns. Do not move a burning candle, do not touch the liquid wax, and be careful of spills.
  • Never extinguish a candle with water: Pouring water on hot wax causes a violent eruption — the wax splashes, and there is a risk of serious burns and fire spreading. Use a snuffer (bell), lid, or carefully blow out the candle to extinguish it.
  • Ventilate the room: Ensure adequate ventilation in the room while the candle is burning. Avoid placing the candle in a strong draft, which can cause uneven burning, smoking, and wax splattering.
  • End of life: Stop using the candle in the container when there is about 1 cm of wax left at the bottom. For freestanding candles, stop burning when the height of the candle drops below 3 cm. Further burning may damage the surface under the candle or the container.
  • Do not throw matches, wick trimmings, or foreign objects into the melted wax.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

  • Storage: Store candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Sun and heat can cause deformation, color changes, and deterioration of scent. The ideal storage temperature is 15 – 25 °C.
  • Maintenance during burning: Regularly remove wick trimmings and other debris from the pool of melted wax. Foreign bodies in melted wax can cause increased flames or flare-ups.
  • Cleaning the container: After the candle has burned out, allow the container to cool completely. Remove wax residues by placing it in the freezer for 1 – 2 hours, after which the wax will easily separate, or by gently warming it with hot water.
  • Surface protection: Always place a non-flammable mat or plate under the candle to protect furniture from heat and potential wax drips.

Specific health warnings

  • Scented candles and allergic reactions: Scented candles contain fragrance oils and perfume components that can trigger allergic reactions, respiratory irritation, headaches, or nausea in sensitive individuals. If you notice any undesirable symptoms, extinguish the candle immediately and ventilate the room.
  • Asthma and respiratory diseases: Individuals with asthma, chronic respiratory diseases, or sensitivity to fragrances should use scented candles with caution or avoid them.
  • Pregnant and nursing women: If in doubt, consult your doctor about using strongly scented candles.
  • Composition of the wax: Candles may contain soy wax, beeswax, coconut wax, or their mixtures. If you have a known allergy to any component, check the composition listed on the product label.
  • Burns — first aid: In case of contact with hot wax, cool the affected area under running cold water for at least 10 minutes. For more serious burns, seek medical attention.
  • In case of fire: Extinguish a small fire from the candle with a fire extinguisher or by covering it with a non-flammable blanket. Never use water on burning wax. In case of a larger fire, immediately leave the room and call emergency services.

Disposal

  • Dispose of residues of solidified wax in regular household waste. Never pour wax in liquid form down the drain, sink, or toilet — it can clog drains and cause burns.
  • Glass, ceramic, or metal containers should be disposed of according to local recycling rules after cleaning from wax or reused.
  • Metal wick clips should be placed in metal recycling.
  • Packaging materials (cardboard, paper, foil) should be disposed of in the appropriate containers for recycling.

Incidents and contact

  • In the event of an incident related to the use of a candle (fire, burns, allergic reaction, breakage of the container, etc.), stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and the purchase receipt for processing the complaint.
